Works being carried out by contractors are essential
Residents are being asked to please understand that our building contractors are carrying out essential works to create temporary hospitals for the NHS.
We have commissioned Lloyd and Gravell, TRJ and Andrew Scott Ltd from our framework of contractors to prepare Carmarthen Leisure Centre, and the Selwyn Samuel Centre and Parc y Scarlets barn in Llanelli, to provide additional bed space for the NHS.
These companies have also engaged a number of firms to supply materials and services including LBS Builders Merchant, Talbot Timber, RT Electrics, DD Plumbing Services, Hayworker Construction, Commercial Flooring and Power Electrics.
Unfortunately, some of the companies, the staff and delivery drivers are being targeted as to why they are still working.
The Government has confirmed that construction sites can continue to operate while implementing social distancing guidance.
It is important that all involved are given the respect they deserve to go about their works and deliveries to ensure these critical works are completed on time.
Managing Director of Andrew Scott Ltd Mark Bowen said: “We appreciate that these are unprecedented times and would like to reassure the public that whilst on site our staff will be able to and are expected to follow the Governments social distancing guidelines.
“As part of these control measures we will be observing the 2 metre rule at all times and where not possible then this will be carried out in a risk assessed and controlled manor with appropriate PPE.
“The Health and Safety of the workforce is paramount and will always come first and in strict accordance with Government guidelines.”
