Information on council housing repairs
Tenants are being reassured that any emergency repairs or safety-related works will be carried out on council homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
This includes the servicing and repair of gas boilers as it is a safety and legislative requirement under the Gas Safe scheme for landlords.
The works are carried out on the council’s behalf by engineers from a specialist energy services company.
We would like to reassure tenants that best working practices will be followed at all times to keep both yourselves and the engineers safe.
Staff will call ahead of appointments to advise tenants why they are attending and assess each case prior to visiting the property.
All engineers have received the necessary guidance on PPE and social distancing.
No work will be carried out by an engineer who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild; and no work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless it is an emergency, or poses a risk to safety, and in such cases, Public Health Wales advice will be followed.
Executive Board Member for Housing Cllr Linda Evans said: “We would appreciate tenants’ co-operation on this, as it is extremely important that these works can take place, not only because it is a legal requirement, but for the safety of tenants also.
“Any repair work which is not urgent will be put on hold at this time and tenants will be contacted when the work is planned to take place.”
