More appointments open for recycling centres

Additional appointments have been opened across all four of the household waste and recycling centres in Carmarthenshire.

The Wernddu centre in Ammanford will also be opening seven-days a week from Monday, June 15, but you can pre-book an appointment from today.

The council has assisted over 8,000 residents to dispose of their essential household waste since the centres re-opened three weeks ago.

Visits to the recycling centres are by appointment only for essential use to dispose of any household waste that poses a potential health and safety risk at home.

Residents can make an appointment at any time and choose a slot that’s convenient to them for the following seven days by visiting the recycling centres page

Appointments are currently limited to one a month (if you book an appointment for the 10th June you won't be able to book another appointment until 10th July).

Residents are being reminded that entry to the site is at any time within the half hour appointment slot made – residents don’t need to attend at the start of the slot and may find less of a wait going later on.

Please remember to ensure all waste is sorted and separated before visiting so that as much waste as possible is recycled in the relevant containers on site.

Executive board member responsible for environment, Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “We’ve been monitoring the situation daily and we now feel that we can continue to ensure the safety of our staff and the public and be able to increase the number of appointments in the day at all our sites as well as increase Wernddu to seven days a week. I would like to thank residents for continuing to work with us and abiding by all the guidance which is in place to ensure everyone is kept safe whilst we have re-opened the household waste and recycling centres when still in this pandemic. My thanks also go to Cwm Environmental and its staff who have worked with us and helped to ensure the re-opening of our sites and that it has been done safely for all.

“We continue to review the situation and will update our website with any changes.”
