Free summer reading challenge
Children are being encouraged to take part in this year’s free Summer Reading Challenge using the click, collect and delivery service with Carmarthenshire Libraries.
This year’s themed challenge is the Silly Squad Reading Challenge and will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter.
Children between the age of 4-11 years will get six books and six incentives from the challenge to read by September 5.
Library members will need to pre-order through an online catalogue and children will be offered a choice of subjects suitable for their age group.
You can also pre-order by calling 01267234567.
Staff will then provide an allocated time slot for members to collect books from one of the three town centre libraries or arrange for them to be delivered if required.
For every book children read, they will receive a collectable incentive from an envelope (which will be labelled – parent/guardian with a numbered incentive for each of the six books read).
The council’s executive board member responsible for libraries, Cllr Peter Hughes-Griffiths said: “The Summer Reading Challenge is a fun way for families and children to take part, whilst also inspiring children to read over the holidays.”
