Carmarthenshire libraries have re-opened some of its IT facilities following the easing of restrictions by the Welsh Government.

In addition to the Click, Collect and Delivery Service people can now access IT services by appointment at Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford and branch libraries in Burry Port, Llandeilo and Llwynhendy. Ammanford Library’s Makerspace is also open for 3D printing by appointment.

The libraries have been closed since the country went into lockdown in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Visitor numbers will be restricted and controlled entry and exit systems in place as well as hand sanitising stations.

Directional arrows and signage will be displayed around the areas reminding people to adhere to the new guidelines.

An enquiry service has also been launched to help customers locate information and resources (online and printed) on a range of topics such as local history and genealogy. Ask a Librarian can be accessed via phone  on Carmarthen on 01267 224828 or Llanelli on 01554 742134,  or by email to ecslibrary@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member responsible for libraries, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths said: “We are pleased to be re-opening some IT facilities and welcoming back our customers into our libraries after many months of closure. However, it is important that customers adhere to the new safety guidelines as the virus hasn’t gone away. We would ask that visitors consider other people around them to ensure it is a safe and clean environment for everyone. Our Ask a Librarian service will make it easier for customers to find out specific information more quickly.  We would also encourage customers to continue using our Click, Collect and Deliver service which has been hugely successful during lockdown.”
