New business thriving in Llanelli

The Scarborough based family-owned department store group W Boyes & Co Ltd opened its doors late last year and has made waves in the town centre. This marks the 87^th Boyes store in the UK and the very first store in Wales! 

Boyes was founded in 1881 by William Boyes in the Yorkshire seaside town of Scarborough. The Boyes family have built a reputation for selling a range of quality goods at bargain prices, virtually everything you need for the home and family, all with friendly and helpful service.  You will find everyday essentials, fashions and footwear, household goods, craft and hobby items, electrical, DIY and leisure products.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Culture, Leisure and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans commented:

"It is wonderful that Boyes have chosen Llanelli for its first store in Wales and taking up permanent residence in the St Ellis Centre. The store was once home to Wilko before its closure, so it is great to see this impressive shop front in use again, welcoming visitors and shoppers. I hope the store goes from strength to strength".
