On April 3 2025,  residents of Carmarthenshire were invited to attend a free event, hosted at Y Ffwrnes, Llanelli designed to celebrate ageing, promote health, foster connections and inform on local projects, activities and services throughout the county that can play a part in helping our residents to live and age well.

Attendees enjoyed a day of engaging activities including information stalls from service providers, workshops, demonstrations and guest speakers. Highlights included:

  • Cradle choir
  • Tai Chi and Scottish Country Dancing demonstrations
  • People Speak Up choir
  • Catalyst for Care workshop

We had engaging talks from Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones as well as keynote speeches from The Minister for Children and Social Care; Dawn Bowden and The Older People's Commissioner for Wales Rhian Bowen-Davies.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Children’s Services, Cllr Jane Tremlett commented:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who were involved in the planning of the Ageing Well event earlier this month, and show my appreciation to those who were in attendance. This event was aimed at those in our community aged 50+, who could attend and learn more about local projects, services and activities located throughout our County that play a huge part in ageing well. The event was a great success, and I look forward to the next one.
