‘Ein Crys Cymru’ tour stops in Carmarthen to celebrate Wales’ first Women’s EURO appearance

Carmarthenshire County Council is celebrating a historic milestone for Welsh sport as the Wales Women’s National Football Team prepares to make their first-ever appearance at a major international tournament — the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, which takes place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July 2025.
To celebrate this landmark achievement and build national excitement, a Giant Cymru Shirt — a 4-metre tall inflatable Wales jersey — is touring key towns and cities across Wales.
As part of the tour, the shirt will be making a special appearance in Carmarthen on Monday 23 June, where it will be on display in Guildhall Square from 11am to 7pm. Members of the public are encouraged to visit, take photos, and show their support for the national women’s team ahead of their opening match against the Netherlands on 5 July.
Featuring bold “EWRO 2025” branding, Wales’ group stage fixtures on the front, and the official squad list on the back, the inflatable shirt serves as a symbol of the country’s achievement and growing passion for the women’s game.
The event also includes football activities for local primary schools from 10:30am to 3pm, followed by group photos with the shirt and the chance to record good luck messages to the team. Local girls’ football clubs are also attending from 4:00pm for a similar celebration and football fun. Free EWRO 2025 wall planners will be available to help fans follow the action and cheer Wales on throughout the tournament.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans said:
We’re incredibly proud to host the Giant Cymru Shirt in Carmarthen as part of the nationwide celebrations for Wales’ first-ever appearance at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the progress of women’s football, and show our support for the national team ahead of their opening match. I encourage everyone to join us at Guildhall Square on Monday”
