Update
Although conditions are better than expected across Carmarthenshire this morning, there are some difficult conditions in northern areas of the county, with crews on their way to clear snow drifts on roads in the Llanllwni area, as well as dealing requests in other troublesome areas.
Gritting of routes will continue in line with current forecasts.
Waste collections and HWRCs – Friday 9 January
Crews are out today completing their normal routes and are catching up on missed collections. Work will continue this evening, and some crews are expected to be out tomorrow (10 January), conditions permitting.
Some disruptions may still occur in certain areas due to ongoing difficult conditions.
Please leave your bags out for collection. We will collect them as soon as possible.
All HWRCs are expected to open today. Residents are advised to travel at their own risk.
Weather Update
Our teams are continuing to prepare for challenging conditions in line with current forecasts, with snow starting to fall in some areas of the county. Throughout today crews have been out on gritting routes, re-filling grit boxes and hand gritting troublesome areas.
Gritting activity will continue throughout this evening and tonight, with routes completed in line with the forecast. Additional crew members and snow ploughs are also on standby to deal with challenging conditions.
Preparations have also been made for us to continue to deliver essential care including services provided by our Home Carers and Community Nurses.
Due to the forecast, some Day Centres will be closed tomorrow.
There may also be disruption to other services if necessary due to weather conditions.

We have 13 road weather monitoring sites across the county, each with fixed cameras that update every 10 minutes. The images can help with assessing current road conditions and for journey planning.

Service Managers are contacting service users and their families, with families and social workers working together to find alternative solutions if required.

There are warm hubs across Carmarthenshire where residents can pop in and keep warm during the colder winter months.

Our Housing Options team can provide support to anyone who finds themselves homeless, with regular wellbeing checks also carried out.

The MET Office has issued the following weather warnings for tomorrow (Thursday 8 January):
Amber warning for snow from 8pm tomorrow covering parts of Carmarthenshire including Llandovery
Yellow warning for snow for Carmarthenshire from 6pm tomorrow until midday on Friday
Our crews are working throughout the day today, gritting required routes based on the forecast, filling grit boxes and hand gritting some areas. Preparation for tomorrow night’s forecast will continue throughout tomorrow.
