Planned road closure on the A484 at Cwmduad

An essential planned road closure will take place on the A484 at Cwmduad to allow Safety Critical highway support works to be carried out.

The road closure will begin on Monday 16 February 2026 and is expected to remain in place for approximately four weeks. These works will only commence once the current road closure in Bronwydd has been lifted, ensuring that both routes are not closed at the same time.

The works are required to support and maintain the highway infrastructure at this location and are necessary to ensure the continued safety and resilience of the road network. Carrying out these works now will help reduce the risk of more significant issues developing in the future.

During the closure, a fully signed diversion route will be in operation. The diversion for southbound traffic will be via the A484 to Saron, A486 to Pontwelly Roundabout, B4336 to Llanllwni, A485 to Carmarthen, A485 to Francis Well Roundabout, and then the A484 to rejoin the route south of the closure. The diversion route will operate in reverse for northbound traffic.

Carmarthenshire County Council recognises that road closures can cause disruption and would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while these essential works are carried out. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time and follow the signed diversion routes.
