The recycling centre will re-open to the public tomorrow (Wednesday, May 5). Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

The recycling centre remains closed for public safety reasons. It will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Anyone with an appointment can visit one of the other recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) or Whitland if they wish at any time between 8.30am and 5.30pm. Please take your confirmation email with you.

Alternatively, you can wait until the site re-opens and book another appointment.

The recycling centre at Whitland will be open Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday, May 4.

The fire service remains at the scene as we start our recovery operation. The priority is to make the area safe so that we can start to remove the contents from the building.

Anyone with appointments booked in for this week can visit one of the other recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) or Whitland if they wish at any time between 8.30am and 5.30pm. Please take your confirmation email with you.

Bin collections

Household bin collections will take place as normal tomorrow (Monday, April 26) and the week ahead. This includes garden waste collections and bulky waste collections.

Please put out your blue/black bags and food waste bins out as usual before 6am on your day of collection. Please remember the maximum number of black bags you can put out is three a fortnight.

Anyone with appointments today (Sunday, April 25) and tomorrow (Monday, April 26) can visit one of the other recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) or Whitland if they wish any time between 8.30am and 5.30pm. Please take your confirmation email with you.

The Whitland site is also open for appointments on Monday, April 26 (the site is usually closed on Mondays), along with Trostre and Wernddu.

Fire at Nantycaws recycling centre

A fire has occurred at Nantycaws Recycling Centre in Carmarthen.

The alarm was raised at approximately 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

The fire service is at the scene and the fire is under control. No-one has been injured.

The site is run by CWM Environmental Ltd.

Head of Operations Paul Wakelin said: “We are working very closely with the fire service and I would like to thank them for all that they are doing. We do not yet know the cause of the fire and a full investigation will need to be launched.”

The recycling centre is now closed until further notice. The waste transfer station for the disposal of commercial waste is also closed.

Residents that had appointments to visit the recycling centre from Sunday, April 25 to Wednesday, April 28 can visit one of the other recycling centres at Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford) or Whitland if they wish any time between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
