New freelancer fund
The Welsh Government has launched the Freelancer Fund phase two to extend the support to help freelance professionals survive the economic consequences of coronavirus.
The fund can grant one-off payments of £2,500 to support freelancers in the cultural and creative sectors who continue to face financial challenges in the period from April 1, 2021 – September 30, 2021, as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Sectors eligible for this grant include:
- The Arts
- Creative Industries
- Arts and Heritage
- Culture and Heritage
Phase two of the freelancer fund will prioritise support to those in areas still significantly impacted by Covid-19, for example in the events, music and performing arts sectors.
Freelancers who work in film and TV, video games, software and other digital entertainment industries are not the intended recipients of this support as these markets are now operating at normal or near normal levels.
However freelancers with specific roles, including those in film and TV (for example writers or musicians), may still be able to apply if they can demonstrate that they’ve been impacted as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
Those in roles that have been able to continue at previous or near previous levels of activity with or without support should not apply.
The Welsh Government Freelancer Fund opens 12 midday on Monday, May 17. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday, June 1.
End date: June 1, 2021
