Carmarthenshire County Council is delighted to announce that Carmarthenshire Archives have been awarded Accredited Status by the National Archives.
Accreditation is the UK quality standard that recognises good performance in all areas of archive service delivery. Achieving accredited status demonstrates that our service has met clearly defined national standards relating to management and resourcing; the care of its unique collections and what the service offers to its stakeholders.
The Panel congratulated the archive service on its positive service transformation and those who contributed to the achievement.
Cllr. Gareth John, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism said: "The award of Archives Accreditation is a significant achievement for the archive service and demonstrates that Carmarthenshire Archives has the systems in place to ensure that its archives are properly and professionally preserved and made available to the public.”
Archive Service Accreditation is supported by a partnership of the Archives and Records Association (UK), Archives and Records Council Wales, National Records of Scotland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Scottish Council on Archives, The UK National Archives, and the Welsh Government through its Museums, Archives and Libraries Wales division.
