The Council is inviting Carmarthenshire businesses to take advantage of the Business Renewable Energy Fund as part of its UK Shared Prosperity Fund [UKSPF].

The fund will provide capital support to businesses towards the purchase of renewable energy systems for their business premises. This comes as Carmarthenshire County Council continues its commitment to economic development as well as becoming net zero carbon by 2030. The aim of the fund is to encourage businesses to be sustainable, helping them on their journey to becoming net- zero.

Grants are available between £1,000 and £25,000 to be put towards the cost of renewable energy systems. This includes Power Systems, Heating Systems and Combined Heat and Power Systems.

Carmarthenshire business, Talog Country Retreat have benefitted from the Business Renewable Energy fund, this meant that they were able to purchase 18 solar panels, helping to reduce their carbon footprint, reducing energy bills and enabling owners to reduce their EV charging rates for guests with electric cars.

Director of Talog Country Retreat said:

The grant has supported us to reduce our carbon footprint and we’ve reduced our wastage on renewable energy with our battery storage. The process with Carmarthenshire Council was seamless and all of our queries were always answered in a timely manner.

Cllr. Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Culture, Leisure and Tourism said:

I encourage any eligible business to apply for this funding. Carmarthenshire County Council is committed climate change, and grants such as this one will really help contribute to the climate change conversation that is taking place across Wales.
