Council launches consultation on future homelessness and housing support services
9 hours ago
Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting residents, people who have experienced homelessness or housing difficulties, landlords, partner organisations and community groups to help shape the future of homelessness prevention and housing support services across the county.
The Council has launched a consultation to inform the development of its Homelessness and Housing Support Programme (HSP) Strategy for 2027 to 2031, a four-year plan that will help guide services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The consultation is open until 14 October 2026.
The consultation aims to gather views from residents, support providers, community organisations and other stakeholders to build a clearer picture of current and future housing support needs across Carmarthenshire. Feedback will help identify challenges, barriers to accessing support and opportunities to improve services in the years ahead.
Once approved, the strategy will be submitted to the Welsh Government and will help guide the future planning and development of homelessness prevention and housing support services across Carmarthenshire.
Carmarthenshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Homes, Cllr Emlyn Schiavone, said:
Preventing homelessness and ensuring people can access the support they need is a priority for Carmarthenshire County Council.
We want to hear from residents, people with lived experience of homelessness or housing difficulties, landlords, community groups, support organisations and partners so we can better understand the challenges people face and the support that is needed now and in the future.
The views shared through this consultation will play an important role in helping us develop a strategy that reflects local needs and helps us provide effective support for people across Carmarthenshire."
Residents and organisations can take part in the consultation by completing the online survey: https://carmarthenshire.welcomesyourfeedback.net/afn361
