Iwan Griffiths elected in the Llangennech ward by-election

Iwan Griffiths – Plaid Cymru, The Party of Wales has been elected as the new Carmarthenshire County Councillor for the Llangennech ward.

A by-election was held on Thursday 25 June 2026, following the election of former councillor Carmelo Colasanto to a Member of the Senedd at the recent Senedd elections in May 2026.

Results of the by election are as follows:

Iwan Griffiths – Plaid Cymru, The Party of Wales – 483
Jordan Sargent – Welsh Labour – 338
Gavin Rashbrook – Reform UK – 283
Craig Griffiths – Welsh Conservatives – 38
Sean Hogan – Independent – 11
Michael Willis – Green Party – 8
Justin Griffiths – Welsh Liberal Democrats – 7

The turnout was 28.15%.
