Carmarthenshire’s GCSE learners celebrate results

Carmarthenshire County Council congratulates all students in the county receiving their GCSE results today, Thursday 20 August 2026.
63.4% of all entries in Carmarthenshire have been awarded an A*-C grade with 18.8% of entries achieving an A*- A grade.
On receiving her results today, Mia from Ysgol Bro Dinefwr said:
“I’m really happy with my results, I’m going to college this year to do biology, psychology and P.E."
Cllr. Glynog Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh Language said:
“Today we celebrate the success of young people across Carmarthenshire as they receive their GCSE results. Their commitment and effort throughout their studies have helped them reach this important milestone.
These accomplishments reflect the collective support of dedicated teachers, support staff, parents, families and friends who have encouraged and guided our young people along the way. Congratulations to every student and to all those who have played a part in their success.”
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Chief Executive, Wendy Walters and Director of Education and Leisure, Owain Lloyd added:
“Congratulations to our learners on their achievements today. These results reflect all the hard work and dedication you have shown throughout your studies, and we are immensely proud of your success.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers, support staff, families and friends whose encouragement and commitment have helped make these achievements possible.”
