Discover Carmarthenshire this autumn with the Curious Autumn Break Collection

This autumn, Discover Carmarthenshire is encouraging visitors to slow down, follow their interests and explore a different side of the county with the launch of Carmarthenshire’s Curious Autumn Break Collection – a new guide bringing together ten hobby led short breaks.
 
From baking Welsh bread and learning traditional wool crafts to tractor driving, wine tasting, birdwatching, cycling the new Tywi Valley Path, foraging and even exploring Carmarthenshire’s mining heritage through coffee and some new walks, the collection taps into the growing appetite for more meaningful, experience-led escapes.

Rather than simply providing a change of scenery, each of the ten Curious Breaks is designed to give visitors something to enjoy, explore, learn or lose themselves in – combining a special interest or hobby with places to brilliant places to stay, local food and drink and opportunities to get out and explore the county.

For those who like to get hands on in the kitchen, The Curious Baker combines a breadmaking course with a coastal autumn escape. 

In Ammanford, The Curious Black Gold Explorer explores a new kind of ‘black gold’, where the town’s mining heritage is given a contemporary twist by Coaltown coffee roastery.  

The Curious Walker combines autumn trails around the marketing town of Llandovery with a map-reading course; The Curious Farmer puts visitors behind the wheel of a tractor before exploring the landscapes of an organic farm; while The Curious Wine Lover pairs a stay on an alpaca farm with vineyard tours, tapas and tastings.

The Curious Woolsmith brings together workshops and experiences celebrating Carmarthenshire’s rich wool heritage, while The Curious Twitcher offers opportunities to spot everything from red kites and pied flycatchers to wintering waterfowl. 

Cyclists can explore the new 13-mile traffic-free Tywi Valley Path as part of The Curious Cyclist, while The Curious Foodie combines award-winning dining with the chance to discover some of the county’s very best  sustainability and fermentation projects.

Completing the collection, The Curious Naturalist which  invites visitors to slow down even further with a stay in the Cambrian Mountains.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “Discover Carmarthenshire’s Curious Autumn Break Collection encourages visitors to explore beyond the better-known attractions and discover local businesses, landscapes, food, drink, heritage and experiences along the way.
