The A484 road at Henallt Bends, between Carmarthen and Bronwydd, will be subject to a full road closure from Monday, 12 February, for a period of 4 weeks, in order for Carmarthenshire County Council to carry out essential highway support works.

In addition to the essential support works, the Council will be undertaking repairs to drainage systems and road resurfacing during the closure period.

A full diversion will be in place, using the A484 to Saron, A486 to Pontwelly, B4336 to Llanllwni and A485 back down to Carmarthen, then A484 to return to a point south of the closure.

To accommodate a long-planned local event the A484 at Henallt Bends will open under traffic lights between 12pm on Thursday, 22 February and 12am on Monday, 26 February after which it will return to a full road closure until the highway works are complete.

Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Edward Thomas said:

The A484 is a strategic road which provides an essential transport route through the County.  The County Council is continuing to invest in the A484 to safeguard its future and ensure it remains open in the long-term for road users.  This does mean that essential highway support works need to be undertaken and the Council appreciates that this causes some short-term disruption and inconvenience.  We ask for people’s patience while we carry out this critical work which we will complete as quickly as possible.”
