Bins for Boys
Carmarthenshire County Council has partnered with West Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group to provide Bins for Boys. The initiative provides sanitary bins in all toilets to help with impacts of incontinence. The programme was established to help men who had lasting effects from treatment for Prostate and Bowel Cancer.
Carmarthenshire County Council have ensured sanitary bins are available across the County, locations include:
- Laugharne
- St Clears
- St John Car Park
- St Peters Car Park
- Llansteffan
- Llanelli
1 in 25 men aged 40 + will experience issues with incontinence, increasing to 1 in 20 men over the age of 60 being affected.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr. Edward Thomas, commented:
Sanitary bins should be more readily available for males in toilets. The public should look for clearly located posters to indicate which areas have sanitary bins. I commend the work being undertaken by the Council and West Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group, in making sure this important topic is recognised across our County.
