In addition to her Olympic Gold Medal, Emma was crowned Carmarthenshire's 2022 & 2023 Sport Personality of the Year.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism - Cllr Hazel Evans said:
Carmarthenshire is very proud of its three Olympians. Emma’s achievements in the velodrome on Monday night, to not only win the Olympic gold medal but also break the world record, is a truly amazing achievement. I can’t wait to see her compete again in her individual event.
At only 17, Carmarthen born Anna Hursey has become the first Welsh athlete to compete at table tennis at the Olympics and Jess Roberts is poised to take to the cycling tack this week. Congratulations to you all.”
