Carmarthenshire GCSE learners celebrate results

Congratulations to all Carmarthenshire students that are receiving their GCSE results today, Thursday, 22 August 2024.

Carmarthenshire County Council is celebrating the achievements of its learners, teachers and support staff, who’s dedication and hard work over the last two years has paid off.

In Carmarthenshire, 66.9% of all entries have been awarded an A*-C grade with 20.2% of entries achieving an A*-A grade.

On receiving his results today, Ryan from Coedcae School said:

I got an A* in Science double award, an A in Welsh, A* in Maths higher, A in Numeracy, B in Computer Science, A in Business, A in P.E, A in English and a C in Spanish. I’m really happy with my results and I’m going to college now and I’m hoping to study A Level Biology, Maths and P.E.”

Cllr. Glynog Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh Language said:

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of our young people that are receiving their GCSE results today. I am very proud of you and you are a credit to us all in Carmarthenshire.” 
On behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council, I must also thank the teachers, support staff, families and friends for your support and commitment to our learners; their success is a reflection of your hard work.”

In a joint statement, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Chief Executive, Wendy Walters and Director of Education and Children’s Services, Gareth Morgans added:

We are very proud of our learners and their achievements, congratulations to you all. We are also grateful to their teachers, support staff, families and their friends for their hard work over the last two years. Excellent work by all.”
