Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a development partner to deliver the next phase of the Transforming Tyisha regeneration project which includes the development of mixed tenure housing for local people across 5 key sites.
The developments will provide opportunities for first time buyers, families and those needing social housing as well as providing more green spaces and improving the environment.
The tender brief and pre-qualification questionnaire are now live on the Sell2Wales website, where potential partners can submit the information and register their interest in coming onboard to partner with the Council and help deliver an exciting future for Tyisha.
The sites included within the tender brief are:
- The former Lakefield School
- Maes Y Gors – the former Four Ty’s site
- The former Copperworks School
- Clos Sant Paul flats
- Train station car park
The Council is asking prospective developers to outline their proposals for the development and delivery of a mix of housing types and tenures such as affordable housing, shared ownership, occupier owned and social housing that are suitable for the needs of the local community.
Ideas are being welcomed for investing into local community facilities which improve health and wellbeing as well as employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
The Council is also interested in viewing plans that detail improvements to the environment through landscaping, tree planting, suitable waste provisions, storage and making the developments sustainable for the future.
Carmarthenshire County Council and Llanelli Town Council’s priority of improving transport links in the area should also be supported within the plans, with developments linking to new and existing cycles routes as well as allowing for sufficient parking to reduce congestion.
Cllr Linda Davies Evans, Cabinet Member for Homes and Chair of the Tyisha Steering Group said:
I’m delighted that the Transforming Tyisha project has reached the stage where we are now actively seeking a partner to help us deliver a major part of Tyisha’s promising future.”
We are looking for a developer to deliver quality, modern and energy efficient housing needed most by local people, whilst retaining the character of Tyisha’s rich heritage.”
The closing date for Pre-Qualification Questionnaire submissions is Thursday, 12 September 2024 at 2pm.
More information on the tender brief for this project is available on Carmarthenshire County Council’s website.
This forms part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s ambitious plans to regenerate the Tyisha ward and wider Llanelli town centre area which is undergoing massive investment.
