Red Weather Warning - Council’s leisure and waste facilities to close on Saturday
Carmarthenshire County Council has taken the decision to close its leisure facilities tomorrow, Saturday 7 December 2024, in light of the Red Weather Warning for Wind by the Met Office.
The Red Weather Warning is in place from 3am – 11am on Saturday, and it is expected that a period of extremely strong winds will develop as Storm Darragh moves across the Irish Sea. Gusts of 90 mph or more are possible over coasts and hills of west and south Wales.
With the safety of the public first and foremost in our mind, Carmarthenshire County Council is advising the public to make only essential travel. The Local Authority has also taken the decision to close the following Council run sites to the public all day tomorrow, Saturday 7 December.
- Household waste and recycling centres
- Museums
- Libraries & Archive
- Galleries
- Dylan Tomas Boat House
- Theatres
- Country Parks
- Leisure Centres
- Hwb Bach y Wlad
- Canolfan Eto

All sites will remain open until normal closing time today, Friday 6 December as usual.
There will be no public transport tomorrow morning until 2pm.
The County Council is also placing additional crews and resources on standby over the weekend who will be ready to respond to changing conditions.
Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services - Cllr Edward Thomas said:
