Tribute to Mary Keir, Wales’s oldest person and resident of Awel Tywi Care Home

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Services - Cllr Jane Tremlett said:

We are all saddened to hear of Mary Keir’s passing and extend our deepest condolences to Mary’s son and daughter in law, her family and friends.

At the age of 112, Mary was regarded as the oldest person in Wales and I have fond memories of visiting her, on numerous occasions, at Awel Tywi Care Home and talking with her about her remarkable life.

I would also like to extend my thanks to the wonderful staff at Awel Tywi for their excellent care of Mary and all residents at the care home.”
