Hwb Bach y Wlad Expands Holistic Services to Carmarthenshire’s Rural Communities
8 days ago
Hwb Bach y Wlad is collaborating with key partner agencies to deliver a comprehensive range of services designed to support the wellbeing and financial resilience of rural communities in Carmarthenshire. This initiative is strengthened by Carmarthenshire County Council’s “Claim What’s Yours” programme, which has been pivotal in offering financial and wellbeing support to those in need.
Starting Friday, 10 January, the council’s Housing Services department will join Hwb Bach y Wlad’s sessions across 10 rural towns in the county. Housing officers will be on hand to assist with a variety of enquiries, including rent support, council property matters, and anti-social behaviour concerns.
From Monday, 13 January, a cancer and life-limiting illness support organisation, Angor, will also join the Hwb Bach y Wlad sessions. Angor is a community group dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by life-changing diagnoses. Their informed and empathetic approach provides hope, strength, and practical support to help people navigate challenging times.
Adult and digital learning opportunities will be available to attendees. Starting Tuesday, 21 January, an officer from Carmarthenshire’s Adult Learning department will offer guidance on adapting to the rapid pace of technological change, beginning with a session in St Clears, Y Gat.
This extended programme of Hwb sessions runs until March 2025, ensuring that residents across Carmarthenshire can access vital support close to home.
Cllr Carys Jones, Cabinet Member for Rural Affairs, Community Cohesion and Planning Policy, said:
This initiative underscores our commitment to ensuring that essential services are accessible to everyone in our rural communities. By bringing these services directly to the people, we’re addressing their needs holistically."
