Exciting grant opportunities available to revitalise Carmarthenshire’s town centres

Carmarthenshire County Council is calling on local property owners and leaseholders to take advantage of two generous funding schemes aimed at breathing new life into town centres across the county. With grants available until 30 September 2025, this is a unique opportunity to improve property frontages and bring empty commercial spaces back into vibrant use.

The Refreshing Town Centres Fund offers up to £2,000 per property, covering 80% of eligible costs, to enhance shopfronts and contribute to the visual appeal of town centres. Property freeholders and leaseholders in Carmarthenshire’s town centres can apply for funding to support a range of improvements including:

  • External decoration
  • Painting
  • Lighting installations
  • Gutter cleansing and more

By improving the appearance of commercial properties, this fund aims to create more attractive and welcoming streetscapes that benefit businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

The Town Centre Vibrancy Fund supports the revitalisation of ground floor vacant commercial properties within Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli. Grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 are available, with an intervention rate of up to 70% of eligible project costs. The fund enables property owners and leaseholders to bring unused spaces back into commercial use whether through opening a new business, expanding an existing operation, or repurposing a vacant unit. This funding provides a significant financial contribution to support the regeneration and sustainability of Carmarthenshire’s town centres.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure said:

Our town centres are the heart of our communities, and these grants offer a real chance for businesses and property owners to invest in their future. By improving shop fronts and bringing empty properties back into use, we’re helping to create more vibrant, welcoming places that support local businesses and attract visitors. I encourage everyone who’s eligible to take full advantage of this opportunity."

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the transformation of Carmarthenshire’s town centres.
