Update on Carmarthen Leisure Centre's Swimming Pool

Work undertaken by Carmarthenshire County Council on the pool maintenance and refurbishment programme at Carmarthen Leisure Centre is progressing. However, unforeseen issues uncovered during the excavation and resurfacing of the main pool mean that more work is required than was originally anticipated. This has resulted in a delay to the project.

Unfortunately, the pool will not reopen in July as was initially intended. The County Council appreciates this will come as disappointing news for residents and customers, but it is paramount that the Local Authority deliver a pool that is safe, of high quality, and built to last long into the future. The additional work is essential to ensure this standard is met.

Preparations to line the 25m pool are now underway, and most of the learner pool has already been completed. The County Council will share a further update on Thursday 10 July, when we hope to confirm a firm reopening date.

There is no need for customers to take any action — any freeze or discount applied to their membership (including Learn to Swim) will automatically be rolled over to 31 July.

A list of Frequently Asked Questions is being kept up to date on Carmarthenshire County Council’s Actif website to inform members and users of the latest information.
