Families across Carmarthenshire can look forward to a packed October half term full of activities and events.

Carmarthenshire’s museums are brimming with spooky fun this half term. At Carmarthenshire Museum, Abergwili (28 Oct), Mystery at the Museum returns with an after-hours trail where families follow clues to uncover the missing Yellow Book of Abergwili. At the Museum of Land Speed, Pendine (29 Oct), create Glowing Spider Jars from recycled materials and twinkling lights perfect Halloween keepsakes. Meanwhile at Parc Howard Museum, Llanelli (22 Oct–2 Nov), children can enter the Haunted House Colouring Competition for a chance to win a Halloween Hamper and see their spooky designs displayed in the museum.

At Pembrey Country Park, enjoy Spooky After Dark Golf, a Halloween-themed mini-golf adventure and follow the Pumpkin Trail around the park to spot hidden seasonal surprises.

Fancy a spooky half-term break? Caban Pendine is offering special deals, including a stay 3 for 2 offer, as well as a free overnight stay with dinner and breakfast for unpaid carers. While you’re there, grab your glowsticks and enjoy a frightfully fun round of mini golf under the stars.

Carmarthenshire Libraries are offering a week of creative, Halloween-themed fun. At Ammanford Library, families can enjoy jewellery making (28 Oct), story time and colouring (29 Oct), and a children’s watercolour workshop (30 Oct). All three main libraries Ammanford, Llanelli and Carmarthen will host the popular Fizzpop Science Slime Workshop (30 Oct – booking essential), finishing the week with Halloween crafts (31 Oct). Llanelli and Carmarthen Libraries also run Halloween Spooktacular sessions where children can design their own custom mug. Drop-in games, LEGO building, crafts and colouring activities.

Theatrau Sir Gâr / Carmarthenshire Theatres are packed with family fun! Jurassic Earth Live brings a 75-minute dino adventure to Llanelli’s Ffwrnes Theatre. Also appearing at the Ffwrnes will be the young performers from New Heights Performance Academy who will be taking to the stage with Shrek the Musical Jr. Get ready for an evening of glitz, glamour and body-slam mayhem as the stars of Welsh Wrestling invades the Lyric Theatre. For those with older children and teenagers, get ready to party like it’s 1985 as Carmarthen Amateur Operatic Society brings The Wedding Singer: The Musical to life. Families can enjoy a range of activities at Actif leisure centres, but the star attraction this half term is Canolfan Pentre Awel, Carmarthenshire County Council’s latest flagship project. This brand-new, state-of-the-art health, leisure and wellbeing hub features two swimming pools, a hydrotherapy pool, a modern gym, fitness studios, an eight-court sports hall, café and vibrant community spaces. Kids can be entertained with swim sessions, junior fitness classes, and family-friendly activities, all in an exciting, modern environment that makes keeping active fun for all ages.
