Carmarthenshire County Council’s Hwb Team builds new links with Military Veterans Club Cymru

On 6 October, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Hwb team visited Cwmaman Community Centre to deliver a presentation on the Claim What’s Yours initiative to members of the Military Veterans Club Cymru.
The session gave members an overview of the support available through Claim What’s Yours, a service launched in 2021 to help residents access the financial support, services and entitlements they may not realise they’re eligible for. The dedicated team of advisers at the Hwb provide personalised assistance to ensure every customer gets the help they need, working alongside partner organisations for additional specialist support.
Following the successful visit, the Hwb team is delighted to announce a new partnership with Military Veterans Club Cymru, enabling mutual referrals between the two organisations. This collaboration will help ensure that veterans, their families and supporters across Carmarthenshire and beyond can access both the practical and social support they need.
The Military Veterans Club Cymru, based in the Amman Valley and with members across Wales, was established to promote camaraderie and reduce loneliness and isolation among military veterans, their families and supporters. The club offers free membership and a wide range of weekly activities including shooting, bowls, and breakfast meet-ups, all designed to be welcoming, affordable, and accessible to all.
The club meets every Monday morning for breakfast at Cwmaman Community Centre, and more information can be found on their Facebook page: Military Veterans Club Cymru.
A link to the Military Veterans Club Cymru is also now available on the Claim What’s Yours webpage.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Homes, Cllr Linda Evans, said:
Carmarthenshire is proud to support our veterans and their families. By working closely with organisations like the Military Veterans Club Cymru, we can ensure that those who have served receive the support, companionship, and opportunities they deserve. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to the wellbeing of veterans across the county.”
By working together, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Hwb team and the Military Veterans Club Cymru hope to strengthen the support available for the county’s veteran community - ensuring that no one misses out on the help, companionship or entitlements they deserve.
