Carmarthenshire – The Most Romantic Place in Wales

Carmarthenshire is stepping into the spotlight with a bold new campaign positioning the county as the most romantic destination in Wales for weddings and intimate celebrations. With its sweeping coastlines, historic ruins, tranquil gardens and charming venues, the region offers a magical setting for couples saying “I do”.
Carmarthenshire’s landscape has long been woven into the tapestry of Welsh mythology. It is here that the tragic love story of Myrddin (Merlin) and the Lady of the Lake is said to have unfolded. This deep-rooted sense of wonder, passion and tradition continues to inspire couples today elevating Carmarthenshire above all others as the home of romance.

As part of this campaign, Carmarthenshire County Council is launching two key initiatives in early 2026:

  • A Brand-New Wedding Directory - A comprehensive guide to Carmarthenshire’s finest wedding suppliers, venues, creative professionals and artisan makers. This directory will champion the county’s talent and make it easier for couples to plan unforgettable celebrations rooted in Carmarthenshire.
  • A ‘Meet the Supplier’ Showcase – 20 January 2026 - Hosted at the spectacular Great Glasshouse, National Botanic Garden of Wales, this curated B2B (Business to Business) event will bring together selected suppliers, venue managers, Carmarthenshire’s registrars and celebrants, wedding coordinators, tourism professionals for a powerful day of networking, collaboration and business development.

The showcase will also feature a series of free, hands-on workshops and seminars, designed to help businesses strengthen their offer and maximise the county’s growing profile:

  • Social Media Strategy & Engagement – Purple Dog
AI in Business – Steve Huggett, IT Associates
  • Creating Video Content for Social Media – Sgript
  • Unlocking the value of working with Carmarthenshire’s Registrars & Celebrants

In addition, a  Business Roadshow (10am–3pm) will run throughout the day, offering direct access to Carmarthenshire County Council officers for tailored guidance on: licensing, planning and funding, current grant opportunities, marketing and tourism support and Carmarthenshire’s Registrars & Celebrants.

Weddings contribute approximately £6 million to Carmarthenshire’s economy annually. The new directory and showcase aim to boost this further by strengthening the local supply chain, keeping more wedding spend in the county, and creating greater opportunities for local creators, venues and service providers.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, said:

“Carmarthenshire is one of the most romantic destinations in Wales, and we want as many local businesses as possible to benefit from the county’s growing wedding sector. By bringing suppliers and venues together under one roof, we are strengthening the local supply chain, keeping spend in our communities, and showcasing the incredible talent we have right here on our doorstep.”

Businesses in floristry, jewellery, décor, photography, catering, transport, beauty, entertainment and more are invited to take part in the showcase and feature in the directory a unique opportunity to grow your visibility, build new partnerships, and tap into a market that seeks the extraordinary.

Carmarthenshire is where landscapes inspire, stories endure, and love becomes legend.
