Get creative this Christmas with Carmarthenshire Community Projects
2 days ago
This festive season, community projects across Carmarthenshire are hosting events and activities, some funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund supported by Carmarthenshire County Council.
As we reflect on the past year, we want to thank and celebrate all the volunteers who help bring people together. The Council has been allocated £1.7 million through the UKSPF Sustainable Communities Programme to support local initiatives that strengthen communities, promote sustainability, and enhance facilities across the county.
The SERO Centre in Carmarthen is running workshops and repair sessions focused on repairing, reusing, and recycling items. Their scrap store offers materials for people interested in repurposing old gifts or making their own items this Christmas. To find out more visit: https://sero.org.uk/
Following the trend, Pethau Pawb in Llandovery are also running a range of workshops offering opportunities to use your Welsh, meet others, and make a Christmas gift. The centre also provides a ‘Library of Things’ service where tools and equipment can be hired for DIY and household jobs in the new year. To find out more visit: https://pethaupawb.ynnisirgar.org
Brynamman Public Hall and Cinema, which has been serving the community for nearly 100 years, has recently installed a new cinema screen and stage equipment with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The venue can now host additional live events and will present a traditional Christmas pantomime, Mother Goose on Sunday, 21 December. To find out more visit: https://brynammancinema.org
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:
This festive season is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity, dedication and spirit of our local communities. I want to thank all the volunteers and community groups whose hard work brings people together and makes Carmarthenshire such a special place. I encourage everyone to get involved, join in the workshops and events, and enjoy all the festive activities taking place across the county.
We encourage everyone to go along, join in and take part in these festive activities."
