St. David’s Day

To mark St. David’s Day County Hall will be lit in red and green on the evening of 1 March. The Welsh flag and the flag of St David will also be flown at County Hall, Ammanford and Town Hall, Llanelli from 28 February until 3 March to mark the occasion.

St David was a preacher born in Wales in the early sixth century, who became a renowned leading religious figure in the early Welsh church. St David was unique, being the only British or Irish Patron Saint to have been born in the country that he represents. 

St David’s Day takes place on 1 March each year, the date said to be his death in 589 AD. 

World Encephalitis Day 2025

To mark World Encephalitis Day 2025, County Hall will be lit up in red on the evening of Saturday, 22 February.

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain caused either by an infection invading the brain or through the immune system attacking the brain in error. World Encephalitis Day aims to raise awareness of the condition and has been an annual event since 2014.

LGBTQ+ History Month 2025

To mark LGBTQ+ History Month 2025, the Rainbow (Pride) flag will be flown from the evening of Friday, 31 January until Monday, 3 February at County Hall – Carmarthen, Llanelli Town Hall and Ammanford.

First held in 2005, LGBTQ+ History Month aims to highlight the incredible achievements of LGBTQ+ people throughout history in all areas of life.
