Town Centre Loan unlocks new business in Llanelli

Llanelli based business Tinworks Brewing Company has recently opened a new tap room and pizzeria named Tinhouse, in Vaughan Street, Llanelli with the support of a Town Centre Loan delivered by Carmarthenshire County Council. A loan of £143,812 was awarded to the company to regenerate an empty building in the town centre into a new commercial space to accommodate their new venture and to convert the upstairs residential flats into four office units.

The Town centre loan, which is funded through the Welsh Government Transforming Towns Fund and delivered locally by Carmarthenshire County Council is available to all 14 towns in the county, to incentivise and enable property refurbishment and new build by offering interest free loans to property owners, developers, investors etc, who will in turn encourage sustainable re-use of vacant, underutilised and redundant sites and premises. This intervention will result in the creation of town centre floor space for commercial, leisure and residential use. Interest free loans of between £25,000 and £1M are available to apply for.

Cabinet member for regeneration, Cllr Gareth John said “It was wonderful to see first hand, that the Town Centre Loan is making an impact in Llanelli Town Centre. I would like to congratulate Matthew, who has taken a really bold and positive step in opening the Tinhouse, in what is an impressive additional offering to the town centre. I wish his business every success for the future. I hope this will be one of many new businesses to take advantage of the loan funding available to regenerate all 14 town centres in Carmarthenshire.”

Matthew Stevenson, director of Tinworks Brewing Company added "I am truly grateful to Carmarthenshire County Council for providing me with the Transforming Towns loan. Without their support, the Tinhouse would not be possible. It's amazing to see how the council is committed to the growth and development of the town, and I'm honoured to be a part of this initiative. Thank you for helping us turn our vision into a reality!"
