Carmarthenshire County Council has launched a new Mural Fund to help bring bold and inspiring public art to town centres that enhances the visual landscape and celebrates local heritage.
Open to owners and leaseholders of commercial properties in Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford and Burry Port town centres, the fund supports the design and installation of murals up to £2,000 with an intervention rate of 80% per property.
The grant is open until September 2025.
Carmarthenshire businesses are also encouraged to take advantage of the Refreshing Town Centre Grant alongside the Mural Grant, which focuses on external improvements to the facades of buildings and remains open until 30 September 2025.
Both funding schemes are supported by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and form part of Carmarthenshire’s wider programme of investment and regeneration programme aimed at revitalising Carmarthenshire’s high streets, supporting businesses, celebrating local identity and boosting the vibrancy, appearance and footfall of town centres.
Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans said:
"This fund is an exciting opportunity to brighten our town centres and tell stories through public art.”
“Murals can create a sense of place, spark conversation and attract footfall. We are proud to support projects that not only look great but also help to build stronger, more connected communities.”
