Empty property owners encouraged to explore new funding and support opportunities

Owners of empty properties across Carmarthenshire are being encouraged to explore the range of funding, advice and practical support available to help bring vacant homes back into use. The Council's Empty Property Team has launched a new newsletter highlighting the assistance available to owners who are considering renovating, renting, selling or returning to their property.

Among the support available is the Houses into Homes Loan Scheme, which has recently increased the maximum loan available from £25,000 to £35,000 per property or unit. The scheme offers 0% interest loans to support renovation works, helping owners unlock the potential of long-term empty properties and return them to productive use.

Property owners may also be eligible for the National Empty Homes Grant Scheme, which provides grants of up to £25,000 to improve the condition, safety and energy efficiency of long-term empty properties - to bring them back into a habitable condition ready for occupation.

Applications for the scheme remain open until 31 March 2027 (subject to funding availability).
