Work starts on new housing development in Llandovery
5 hours ago
Construction work has commenced on a new Council housing development on Cilycwm Road, Llandovery, marking an important step in increasing the supply of affordable homes within the area.
The development is part of Carmarthenshire County Council's programme to increase the supply of Council homes to help meet identified housing needs across the county. Once completed, the scheme will provide new Council homes for rent for individuals and families in the area which will be allocated in line with a Local Lettings Policy. The scheme will contribute to the delivery of modern, energy-efficient housing, supporting the continued development of sustainable communities.
As work gets underway, Carmarthenshire County Council are encouraging local residents interested in these new homes to ensure they are registered on the housing register, as this is essential for anyone wishing to apply for affordable housing in the county.
The new Council homes should be available from late Summer / Autumn 2027.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Homes, Emlyn Schiavone, said:
“It's great to see work now underway on this new Council housing development in Llandovery. These much-needed homes will help meet local housing demand, provide high-quality and energy-efficient accommodation, and support the growth of sustainable communities in the area. I would encourage anyone interested in accessing these homes to ensure they are registered on the housing register.”
Llandovery’s County Councillor Handel Davies commented “It's good to get this project now underway and I am delighted Carmarthenshire County Council is building new houses in Llandovery”.
