King's Baton Relay Carmarthenshire

The King’s Baton Relay is a flagship event of the Commonwealth Games and symbolises unity, diversity and shared values across the Commonwealth.
The Baton carries a message from His Majesty The King and travels through Commonwealth nations and territories across the world before arriving at Glasgow, Scotland where the Opening Ceremony of the Games will take place.
The Games will take place from 23 July to 2 August 2026, welcoming 3,000 athletes from up to 74 Nations and territories.
Four years on from the last visit in 2022, Carmarthenshire has been selected as one of the locations to host the Baton Relay during its UK journey with the event being coordinated by Actif.
During its journey, the King’s Baton will visit 6 locations throughout the county. Along the route, all 10 sports featured in the 2026 Commonwealth Games - athletics, swimming, cycling, netball, boxing, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, bowls and basketball - will be showcased through activity displays and engagement sessions, bringing the Games to life for local residents.
With the Team Wales squad set to be announced the previous day as it enters Wales (June 19), this special visit provides a fantastic opportunity for communities, schools, clubs, and families to come together and celebrate sport, inclusion, and community spirit.

In addition to showcasing sports, local residents will be included as Baton Bearers, with individuals including national athletes, young people, volunteers and those who make a positive contribution to their communities selected to participate.
