The decision to issue statutory notice to Ysgol Meidrim was agreed at a meeting of Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet on Monday 1 June 2026.

If approved, the proposal will take effect from 31 December 2026.

From 1 January 2027, it is proposed that current Ysgol Meidrim pupils attend Ysgol Hafodwenog or Ysgol Griffith Jones, subject to parental preference and the Council’s admissions arrangements.

It is also proposed that, for future pupils from 1 January 2027, the catchment area of Ysgol Gynradd Meidrim be re-designated and included within the existing catchment areas of Ysgol Hafodwenog, Ysgol Griffith Jones and Ysgol Bancyfelin.

Ysgol Meidrim has been identified based on viability criteria set out within the Modernising Education Programme, approved by Cabinet in 18 November 2024.
