National Eisteddfod 2026
The Eisteddfod Genedlaethol: A vibrant celebration of Welsh language, music, literature, and artistic talent.
When and where?
Llantwd, nestled in the heart of north Pembrokeshire — one of Wales’ most stunning landscapes — will be ready to welcome visitors from 1–8 August 2026.
This year’s Eisteddfod is set in the area known as y Garreg Las, taking its name from the distinctive local bluestone. The catchment area spans three beautiful regions — Pembrokeshire, south Ceredigion, and west Carmarthenshire — each bringing its own character, heritage, and warm Welsh croeso to the festival.
Location: Llantood, Nr Cardigan, Pembrokeshire, SA43 3NU
About National Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2026
Eisteddfod Y Garreg Las will mark the 850th anniversary of the first recorded Eisteddfod, which took place in Cardigan in 1176.
As Wales’ premier celebration of Welsh language and culture, the National Eisteddfod attracts performers, writers, artists, choirs, competitors and visitors from across the country. Over the course of a week, it offers a vibrant programme of competitions, concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, literary events, and community activities, showcasing music, poetry, visual arts, crafts, and more.
The festival is traditionally held in early August and moves between north and south Wales each year. In 2026, its catchment area will extend beyond Pembrokeshire to include communities in south Ceredigion and west Carmarthenshire, creating wider opportunities for local people to get involved in planning, volunteering, and celebrating the event.
