Essential overnight resurfacing works planned at Machynys roundabout

Carmarthenshire County Council will undertake essential overnight resurfacing works at the B4304 Machynys Roundabout between 10 and 17 August 2026. Following discussions between the Council's Highways team, surfacing contractor Tarmac and Machynys Golf Club, the works programme has been carefully planned to minimise disruption to the business, its customers and the travelling public.

To reduce impacts as much as possible, the majority of the works will be carried out overnight, and resurfacing activities will be suspended on Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August during a busy weekend period.

The improvement scheme is necessary to maintain the condition of the highway and ensure the continued safety of road users using this important route.

The B4304 Machynys Roundabout will be closed overnight between 9pm and 5am from Monday 10 August until the morning of Saturday 15 August 2026, with a further overnight closure from 9pm on Monday 17 August until 5am on Tuesday 18 August 2026.

Access to and from Machynys Golf Club will be maintained until 10pm each evening throughout the works, with extended access until 11pm on Friday 14 August.

Carmarthenshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Edward Thomas, said:

These resurfacing works are essential to maintain the safety and long-term condition of this section of highway. We recognise the importance of Machynys Golf Club to the local economy and visitor offer, and our Highways team has worked closely with the club and our contractor throughout the planning process to minimise disruption wherever possible.

By carrying out the majority of the works overnight, maintaining access arrangements and suspending activity over the weekend, we have sought to accommodate the needs of the business while ensuring these necessary improvements can be delivered safely and efficiently for the benefit of all road users."
