The Country Cars team are looking for more volunteer organisers and drivers in and around Ammanford and rural areas of Carmarthenshire to help residents who would otherwise be unable to make essential local journeys.
Country Cars is a community-based car sharing scheme. Volunteers ensure that those with individual or occasional travel needs can access healthcare, shopping, work, and other vital locations within Carmarthenshire.
Volunteers can support at times to suit themselves, from as little as a couple of hours to a couple of days a week.
From driving those in need, coordinating services, or lending a helping hand wherever you can, there's a fulfilling role for everyone.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure services, Cllr Edward Thomas, said:
Country Cars plays a vital role in helping residents across Carmarthenshire remain connected to their communities and access essential services. Whether it's attending healthcare appointments, getting to the shops or travelling to work, the support provided by our volunteers can make a real difference to people's lives.
We're always keen to welcome new volunteer drivers and organisers, particularly in Ammanford and our rural communities. Even a small amount of time can have a significant impact and volunteering is a rewarding way to support those who may otherwise struggle to make important journeys."
