New energy-efficient homes delivered at Parc Pendre, Kidwelly

Carmarthenshire County Council has completed a new housing development at Parc Pendre, Kidwelly, providing 16 high-quality, energy-efficient homes for local residents.

The development includes a mix of properties designed to meet a range of housing needs: four one-bedroom homes, six two-bedroom homes, four three-bedroom homes and two four-bedroom homes. Each property has been built with sustainability and comfort in mind, featuring air source heat pumps, solar panels and high levels of insulation to help minimise energy costs for residents. These modern homes form part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to providing affordable, well-designed housing that supports strong and sustainable communities.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Homes, Cllr Emlyn Schiavone, said:

“Access to high-quality, affordable housing plays a vital role in improving health and well-being while helping to create thriving, sustainable communities. These new homes will provide safe and welcoming neighbourhoods where families can put down roots and take pride in where they live. They will also support the local economy by helping to attract and retain a skilled workforce.”

New tenants have already begun to experience the positive impact of the development, sharing their appreciation for both the quality of the homes and the difference they have made to their lives.

One resident said:

“It’s beautifully designed and crafted. It’s quiet and has improved my mental health. I love the space and that every aspect of living was considered.”

Another resident highlighted the accessibility of their new home:

“It’s everything I could need and then some. I’m very happy - thank you so much to you and your team.”

For others, the new homes have provided much-needed security and a fresh start. One resident explained:

“I was in temporary accommodation and wasn’t sure where I would end up. I was desperate to come here as I followed the homes being built. I was ecstatic when I was offered one. My health has improved greatly. I love the apartment and the garden. I feel so very lucky.”

A new resident praised the quality and comfort of their home, saying:

“My new home is just amazing - it feels secure and safe. It’s nice and quiet here and the house is so well insulated that noise from outside is hardly noticeable. The sign-up process was a nice experience and everything was explained fully. The garden is a lovely safe space for my daughter to use and we can’t wait to enjoy it in the summer.”

Another resident highlighted the benefits of the home's energy-efficient features and the support they received throughout the move:

“This house is amazing and already feels a lot better compared to where I used to live. The solar panels and heating system are really good, cheap to run and easy to use. The move-in process was straightforward and everything was explained really well.”
