National Wool Museum first to receive Carmarthenshire Business Ambassador recognition

The National Wool Museum has become the first organisation to receive recognition through Carmarthenshire’s new Business Ambassador Scheme, which celebrates businesses committed to promoting the county as a high-quality visitor destination.

The Business Ambassador Scheme has been developed as a pilot project funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) and builds on the success of the wider Carmarthenshire Tourism Ambassador Programme. The initiative aims to create a strong, well-connected network of tourism champions who actively promote Carmarthenshire’s culture, heritage, landscapes, hospitality and visitor attractions.

Nine businesses from across the county were selected to take part in the pilot programme with the National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre the first to complete the programme and receive its award.  Training and support were offered throughout, and staff members have now been awarded certificates and a gold Ambassador pin badge whilst the Museum, celebrating 50 years of preserving and sharing Wales’ industrial heritage, will proudly be showcasing its achievement through window stickers and PR.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:

Contributing over £0.75billion annually, our tourism sector plays a vital role in Carmarthenshire’s economy and the Business Ambassador Scheme is helping to create passionate advocates who can share everything that makes our county so special. By investing in our businesses and their staff, we are strengthening the visitor experience and building a network of ambassadors who will encourage more people to discover Carmarthenshire’s outstanding attractions, heritage, hospitality and natural beauty.

Congratulations to the National Wool Museum on becoming the first organisation to complete the programme and receive this recognition, and we look forward to celebrating the achievements of the other participating businesses as they complete their Ambassador journey over the coming months.”

The National Wool Museum will also be staging a Family Show at Pentre’r Garreg Las at the National Eisteddfod in Llantwd, Pembrokeshire on Sunday, 2 August at 3pm. Visitors to the show will discover fascinating stories about Wales' woollen industry and learn more about the people, traditions and heritage that formed one of the nation's most important industries.
